Wang Dae Bak (China Square Central)

"The best way to know if a restaurant serves decent, authentic cuisine from a certain country is if you spot diners of the particular nationality in there. The winner of HungryGoWhere's Eat-lections 2015 for Best Korean restaurant is Wang Dae Bak and we regularly spot Korean salarymen downing their makgeoli (Korean rice wine, $18) and chowing down on barbecued meat.

Modelled after a typical barbecue restaurant in South Korea, the decor features round metal tables, robust chimney exhaust and plastic chairs, and the decent-sized restaurant seats 50 patrons comfortably. Food-wise, meat-lovers may pick the beef tongue ($18), spicy marinated chicken ($18), pork belly ($18), marinated shoulder loin ($18) and prime rib ($28).

Other worthy mentions are the crispy seafood pancake stuffed with squid ($18), clam and shrimp, and the hearty bowl of Korean ginseng chicken soup ($15). The star of the meal though, would be the free(-flow) omelette. Friendly servers would pour an egg mixture into the little ""valleys"" at the side of the barbecue plate, for you to cook it just the way you like, runny or firm. The eggs apparently help to soften the spiciness from the meat. Very thoughtful."
