The Library

The Library is a cocktail bar modelled after the speakeasy tradition. No signboard marks its entrance; and each guest must search for and give the correct password in order to gain entry. Established in September 2012, The Library has built a name for its intimate, cosy ambiance, and fun, evocative drinks, becoming the place you want to share with only a select group of people.

The menu is split into three categories, according to the flavour profile of the drinks: Strong & Dangerous, Sexy & Tropical, and Crazy & Sophisticated. Drinks include, in each respective category: Pineapple Monk (Plantation Pineapple Rum, Dark Rum, Monks Herbal Liqueur, Tropical Bitters—$24); What’s Abi (Pisco, Passionfruit, Wasabi, Peppermint, Citrus, Amargo Chuncho—$24); and Red- neggs Medicine (Becherovka, Suze, Camomile, Orange, Lemon, Wheatgrass—$24). Evocative and unconventional, there’s a drink for every person, character, and mood.

The Library’s new food menu serves up comfort food with a difference. It plays on the idea of local and regional street food and everyday items—2-minute noodles, beef cheek bao, char siew spring rolls, kimchi hot dogs, and kaya toast ice cream.

The Library is thrilled and honoured to be partnering with one of the region’s longest-stand- ing traditional Chinese medicine brands, Eu Yan Sang. Brought to life by FITCH, the design and concept pays tribute to the heritage brand’s logo. It connects the natural symbols of growth, represented by the earth, sky, and nature to bring traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to life for younger audiences, luring passers-by with ‘roots’ stretching out across the outdoor walkway.
