Lee Do Restaurant (Ubi)

Lee Do Restaurant was set up by the late Mr Tan Seng Eng in 1964 at a small HDB coffee shop off Bendemeer road. The block was eventually torn down to make way for a new condominium. It was relocated to its present address at Ubi Ave 2, Automobile Megamart in 1999. The restaurant specialises in Fu Zhou cuisine. Fuzhou is the capital of Fujian province, China. As Fuzhou's location lies along the coastal line, this cuisine is one that is more seafood and soup-based. Their all-time customers' favourite is the Red Wine Chicken Soup, made from red lees and fermented rice. Other popular dishes include Fried Pig's Liver, Seafood Soup and White Rice Cake. For special occasions, Fish Ball with Meat Fillings Soup is usually served. With these dishes, the owners pledged to preserve the familiar style and heritage as they believe that good food has no boundaries. Today, this restaurant is helmed by the second generation Chef Tang Kwok Tong. In 1980, Chef Tang was 30 years old and was helping his father at his restaurant and eventually setting up Lee Do Restaurant.

A firm believer that food should be cooked with passion and patience, he has lived up to this belief for the past 37 years. Always spending time in the kitchen for the preparation of authentic Fuzhou dishes and ensuring it is cooked to perfection.
