La Barca

Italian
Hidden away in Katong, La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar is a stunning restaurant set within the spacious grounds of the Goodman Arts Centre. ‘La Barca’ – the Italian word for ‘boat,’ was so named due to the shape of the site that it is situated on. We serve classic Tuscan fare with a modern twist, and an emphasis on fresh flavours and stylish presentation.

Being quietly tucked away, we offer a unique calm and serenity absent from restaurants in the city. Thus, we find ourselves excellent host for business lunches or those heart to heart with close friends.

However, we are not all business. Come weekends, we transform ourselves into a family friendly restaurant boasting a Kids’ Playroom, a bouncy castle, inflatable water slides and even a trampoline. A welcoming outdoor wooden deck, makes it a popular choice for children’s parties or just for taking in the tranquility.

La Barca is helmed by Executive Chef Michele Sorrentino. Michele graduated from hotel school in 1979 and has worked as a professional chef ever since. In 1992 he opened Antica Trattoria Botteganova, which was listed in Frommer’s guide’s ‘Top Ten Restaurants of Italy’ from 2000 to 2008. In 1999, Chef Michele received his Michelin star which he maintained throughout the lifetime of his restaurant. Over the years he has received numerous awards and favourable reviews in the international press and has appeared regularly on Italian TV. Having been at the top of his game in Italy for over 25 years, Michele is continuing his innovation here at La Barca.
